Translation: Abstract Art. It is said it all started with a few brave men; Malevitj, Mondrian and Kandisky – artists who dared break tradition. Who knew that in Stockholm there was a woman who both dared and could many years prior to these men. Hilma Af Klint painted hundreds of abstract paintings and filled thousands of pages with drawings and thoughts about the world and art. Alone in her studio she created work the world had never before seen. It could have been a breakthrough, but she never exhibited her works. She kept her work secret, locked in drawers and thought: some time in the future maybe the world will be ready… 69 years after her death, the Museum of Modern Art Stockholm, has gone through all the drawers. It is time for Hilma, the future is here. Time to give her the place she deserves – at the front line with the hailed men several steps behind. From February 16 to May 26 we will do what we can at the Museum of Modern Art Stockholm and you can also help us update the history of art by spreading the word.
