Transliteration 1: Waalttoori Yusuf Ali 1: By the Mount (of Revelation); 2 وَكِتَابٍ مَّسْطُورٍ Transliteration 2: Wakitabin mastoorin Yusuf Ali 2: By a Decree inscribed 3 فِي رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ Transliteration 3: Fee raqqin manshoorin Yusuf Ali 3: In a Scroll unfolded; 4 وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ Transliteration 4: Waalbayti almaAAmoori Yusuf Ali 4: By the much-frequented Fane; 5 وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ Transliteration 5: Waalssaqfi almarfooAAi Yusuf Ali 5: By the Canopy Raised High; 6 وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ Transliteration 6: Waalbahri almasjoori Yusuf Ali 6: And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 7 إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ Transliteration 7: Inna AAathaba rabbika lawaqiAAun Yusuf Ali 7: Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 8 مَّا لَهُ مِن دَافِعٍ Transliteration 8: Ma lahu min dafiAAin Yusuf Ali 8: There is none can avert it;- 9 يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا Transliteration 9: Yawma tamooru alssamao mawran Yusuf Ali 9: On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 10 وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا Transliteration 10: Wataseeru aljibalu sayran Yusuf Ali 10: And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 11 فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Transliteration 11: Fawaylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena Yusuf Ali 11: Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 12 الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ Transliteration 12: Allatheena hum fee khawdin yalAAaboona Yusuf Ali 12: That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 13 يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا Transliteration 13: Yawma yudaAAAAoona ila nari jahannama daAAAAan Yusuf Ali 13: That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 14 هَـٰذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ Transliteration 14: Hathihi alnnaru allatee kuntum biha tukaththiboona Yusuf Ali 14: "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 15 أَفَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَا أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ Transliteration 15: Afasihrun hatha am antum la tubsiroona Yusuf Ali 15: "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 16 اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Transliteration 16: Islawha faisbiroo aw la tasbiroo sawaon AAalaykum innama tujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloona Yusuf Ali 16: "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 17 إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ Transliteration 17: Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin wanaAAeemin Yusuf Ali 17: As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 18 فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ Transliteration 18: Fakiheena bima atahum rabbuhum wawaqahum rabbuhum AAathaba aljaheemi Yusuf Ali 18: Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 19 كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Transliteration 19: Kuloo waishraboo haneean bima kuntum taAAmaloona Yusuf Ali 19: (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 20 مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ Transliteration 20: Muttakieena AAala sururin masfoofatin wazawwajnahum bihoorin AAeenin Yusuf Ali 20: They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 21 وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ Transliteration 21: Waallatheena amanoo waittabaAAathum thurriyyatuhum bieemanin alhaqna bihim thurriyyatahum wama alatnahum min AAamalihim min shayin kullu imriin bima kasaba raheenun Yusuf Ali 21: And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 22 وَأَمْدَدْنَاهُم بِفَاكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ Transliteration 22: Waamdadnahum bifakihatin walahmin mimma yashtahoona Yusuf Ali 22: And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 23 يَتَنَازَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ Transliteration 23: YatanazaAAoona feeha kasan la laghwun feeha wala tatheemun Yusuf Ali 23: They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 24 ۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ Transliteration 24: Wayatoofu AAalayhim ghilmanun lahum kaannahum luluon maknoonun Yusuf Ali 24: Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 25 وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ Transliteration 25: Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona Yusuf Ali 25: They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 26 قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ Transliteration 26: Qaloo inna kunna qablu fee ahlina mushfiqeena Yusuf Ali 26: They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 27 فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ Transliteration 27: Famanna Allahu AAalayna wawaqana AAathaba alssamoomi Yusuf Ali 27: "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 28 إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ Transliteration 28: Inna kunna min qablu nadAAoohu innahu huwa albarru alrraheemu Yusuf Ali 28: "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 29 فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ Transliteration 29: Fathakkir fama anta biniAAmati rabbika bikahin wala majnoonin Yusuf Ali 29: Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 30 أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ Transliteration 30: Am yaqooloona shaAAirun natarabbasu bihi rayba almanooni Yusuf Ali 30: Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 31 قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا فَإِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ الْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ Transliteration 31: Qul tarabbasoo fainnee maAAakum mina almutarabbiseena Yusuf Ali 31: Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 32 أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَامُهُم بِهَـٰذَا ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ Transliteration 32: Am tamuruhum ahlamuhum bihatha am hum qawmun taghoona Yusuf Ali 32: Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds? 33 أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ Transliteration 33: Am yaqooloona taqawwalahu bal la yuminoona Yusuf Ali 33: Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! 34 فَلْيَأْتُوا بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِ إِن كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ Transliteration 34: Falyatoo bihadeethin mithlihi in kanoo sadiqeena Yusuf Ali 34: Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 35 أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ Transliteration 35: Am khuliqoo min ghayri shayin am humu alkhaliqoona Yusuf Ali 35: Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 36 أَمْ خَلَقُوا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ Transliteration 36: Am khalaqoo alssamawati waalarda bal la yooqinoona Yusuf Ali 36: Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 37 أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ الْمُصَيْطِرُونَ Transliteration 37: Am AAindahum khazainu rabbika am humu almusaytiroona Yusuf Ali 37: Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 38 أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ Transliteration 38: Am lahum sullamun yastamiAAoona feehi falyati mustamiAAuhum bisultanin mubeenin Yusuf Ali 38: Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 39 أَمْ لَهُ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَكُمُ الْبَنُونَ Transliteration 39: Am lahu albanatu walakumu albanoona Yusuf Ali 39: Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? 40 أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ Transliteration 40: Am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muthqaloona Yusuf Ali 40: Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 41 أَمْ عِندَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ Transliteration 41: Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboona Yusuf Ali 41: Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? 42 أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ Transliteration 42: Am yureedoona kaydan faallatheena kafaroo humu almakeedoona Yusuf Ali 42: Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 43 أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ Transliteration 43: Am lahum ilahun ghayru Allahi subhana Allahi AAamma yushrikoona Yusuf Ali 43: Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him! 44 وَإِن يَرَوْا كِسْفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ Transliteration 44: Wain yaraw kisfan mina alssamai saqitan yaqooloo sahabun markoomun Yusuf Ali 44: Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 45 فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ Transliteration 45: Fatharhum hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allathee feehi yusAAaqoona Yusuf Ali 45: So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 46 يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ Transliteration 46: Yawma la yughnee AAanhum kayduhum shayan wala hum yunsaroona Yusuf Ali 46: The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them. 47 وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Transliteration 47: Wainna lillatheena thalamoo AAathaban doona thalika walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona Yusuf Ali 47: And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 48 وَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ Transliteration 48: Waisbir lihukmi rabbika fainnaka biaAAyunina wasabbih bihamdi rabbika heena taqoomu Yusuf Ali 48: Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth, 49 وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ Transliteration 49: Wamina allayli fasabbihhu waidbara alnnujoomi Yusuf Ali 49: And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars!
