Transparent moment: Im at the stage in my life where I often wonder about where Im going (I mean, Ill only be done with college in two semesters). Then, Ill think about what will I be doing, and if Ill be good at it. I think about myself as a teacher, and though I hear the praise and affirmations of my teachers and peers of how good Ill be, I find myself thinking will I truly be a good teacher. I love kids. I absolutely adore them (even when they poop on me, cry on me, or find a way to use me as a Kleenex), but I often wonder, will I be a good mother to my future children. I wonder will I give them all the love that they need? Will I love their dad as a good wife? Will I be good at this? Good at that? I received my answer about a week ago *does the Shmoney dance* I attended a lecture at the Reformed Theological Seminary, and the lecture was on What Makes a Good Preacher? The presenter identified three awesome characteristics of a good preacher. However, it wasnt the characteristics that I walked away remembering the most; it was this phrase, Its our responsibility to be good, but it is God that makes us great. That basically meant that the good of who we are as preachers (or in this context as an employee, mother, wife, etc.) is a result of our preparation and the extent and intent in which we prepare. But it is the anointing of the Holy Spirit that breathes life into us and fills us that makes us great. For Gods glory of course. So God just had to remind me that it does not matter what you do, do all unto His glory. Do it all in His spirit. Do it all in His power. The Holy Spirit will teach/prepare you, and He will also empower you to succeed far greater than you imagined. Okay, Im done.
