Transportation Update: Friday, November 28 Good Morning - TopicsExpress

Transportation Update: Friday, November 28 Good Morning Parents, Staff, and Students. As of 5:30 this morning, we hope and expect to have our bus routes running. There has been freezing drizzle in some of our areas, and reports are calling for challenging winter driving conditions. Furthermore, the Canmore area is still under a Snow Storm Warning. However, accumulations of snow at this point do not appear to be prohibitive in most cases. Our various sources of weather predictions: The Alberta Motor Association, The Weather Network, and the Weather Channel are still calling for continued accumulations of snow, and they also suggest that temperatures will drop considerably through the day. Canmore might see another 10 to 20 centimetres of snow, and our other communities are told to expect up to 5 centimeters throughout the day. Temperatures across our region are expected to get down to -20, but the wind chill will make it feel considerably lower – towards -30. Forecasts are calling for Snow Squalls – brief, localized snow storms that have potential to bring heavier snow and reduced visibility. We expect that many buses will be slightly delayed, as drivers will slow down for the winter driving conditions. In the event that a driver determines that a route is unsafe, he or she will contact all families on that route. As always, please ensure that students are dressed appropriately for the anticipated weather conditions, and do not leave children unattended at bus stops. ________________________________ Michael Kilcommons Associate Superintendent of Corporate Services Direct: 403-995-4829 Cell: 403-923-9507
