Transporting silage over long distances requires the use of a highway truck on order to perform the job efficiently. The use of highway trucks off-road can lead to severe problems with soil compaction, wheel slippage, and possible damage to the vehicle. With these problems in mind, Hawe has developed the SUW transfer trailer. Available in two capacities, 40 and 48 cubic metres, with an unloading rate of 9 to 11 cubic metres per hour, and a minimum 250hp tractor requirement. Perfect doing during unloading is performed by metering plates and rollers, which is ideal for grass silage, while unloading is done via a PTO-driven fan, through a discharge chute that is rotatable through 720°. Discharge can be performed at a height difference of over 3m, ideal for roadside unloading, over ditches or embankments, or for unloading into vehicles with high sides. Standard equipment includes mechanical suspension, hydraulic drawbar suspension, and soil-protecting tires. Optional equipment includes hydraulic suspension, rear unloading, and hydraulic side wall extensions for the tridem axle version (for a maximum of 60 cubic metres capacity).
