Travel| Sometimes in life you get lucky. As you travel you come across places that become more like another home than just a place to stay. And sometimes the owners of those places become family, instead of just the proprietor of the inn. The first place I recall feeling like that in my life was the Rabbit Hill Inn, in Lower Waterford, Vermont. It has been a long, long time since I have been there and the owners have long since changed -- maybe more than a few times -- but for a few years that was like a second home. Last year I came across another, Cameo Heights Mansion Bed and Breakfast, outside Walla Walla, WA, and on my recent trip to Ireland I may have found another, the Ballinalacken Castle Country House & Restaurant, outside Doolin, Co. Clare. But the one that has become my most frequent and dearest over the years is Castle Moffett, outside Baddeck, Cape Breton. There are a number of reasons I have become attached to Cape Breton over the years -- the music, the people, the culture -- but Linda Moffett Corr and her husband, Jim, are a big, big part of that. I am way looking forward to seeing and staying with them throughout the upcoming Colaisde na Gaidhlig / The Gaelic College (Official) Kitchen Fest, starting this Saturday, thank them for all of the wonderful times we have shared over the years and look forward to many more, in whatever form, as the years continue.
