Traveling and moving are a metaphor for our journey through this - TopicsExpress

Traveling and moving are a metaphor for our journey through this life as we prepare for our next. When we set out we always have a destination in mind and we are willing to put up with the inconveniences of leaving the comforts of home and leaving loved ones behind. We can accept the discomfort of sitting in the same spot for 15 hours and endure the stress of packing, rushing to catch a flight, enduring questioning from immigration officers and going through security checks. Any discomforts we experience along the way dont trouble us too much-sitting in a cramped car, having to lug around our possessions, sleeping in smelly hotels-because of the excitement of reaching our destination. Before we set out we make sure to do all of our research, get the right maps, addresses for the gps, and map out our route. We gather our provisions but not too many as they would hinder our progress and if we take something we dont need we would let it go along the way. As we pack up we usually discard whatever we feel will not not serve any purpose on our journey or which will not be useful once we reach our destination. We feel good about and are careful with our more precious possessions and take care that they reach their destination safely. Similarly it would be wise to collect and safeguard iman and good deeds as our provision for the next life. The scenery along lifes journey and the delights of this world are wonderful but fleeting, not quite fully satisfying. So the times of difficulty, loss, pain, and suffering are made bearable by the knowledge that this life is a journey and temporary and the struggles we go through are necessary on our journey to our final and eternal destination. The moment we accept this life to be a test, a journey with a purpose and beautiful destination, we are able to bear its insufficiencies. So our luggage for this journey is knowledge and good deeds and our guide or gps is Allahs guidance in the form of the Quran and Sunnah. Family, hope, faith, righteous friends and ultimately reliance on Allah swt are our travel companions. May He grant us all the final destination of jannah and make easy our journey and remove our obstacles.
