Traveling is never easy. It seems no matter how much preparation - TopicsExpress

Traveling is never easy. It seems no matter how much preparation you go through – something always happens. So, I get to the airport in Frankfurt on Friday with plenty of time before check in. I take Kimani (my dog) for a walk and meet Chief Koch back in the airport so we can get a cart and go load up luggage and Kimani’s kennel. I find a machine that takes 2 Euro for a cart. I have 1.90 in change so I put a credit card in. Simple process…right? WRONG. The machine won’t release my card. I try to pull it out and eventually have to ask to get some help. 15 minutes later we have 4 security/maintenance folks working on the cart dispenser. Kimani is getting nervous and anxious just waiting around with all the people. I take her for another walk and Tony stays while they try and fix the problem. I return and Tony has my card. O.K. that burned a half hour, but we still have plenty of time before I need to check Kimani in. I find the place to check pet’s in for the flight and ask if I can check my luggage and bring my dog back and check her in later…no problem. He checks my bags and asks me a few questions about the kennel – like…do you have food and water containers. Ahh, no. Turns out Kimani is going nowhere without them. (Insert dramatic – tension music here)…So – he calls someone to find out if she can fly without…NO – she can’t but you can go to FGS and buy some containers. So – I start a 45 minute wild goose chase first to pay for Kimani’s passage and then to find and pay for the food containers. (he sent me to the wrong location first and they had to re-direct me). Come to find out later Shelly had purchased all the food and water containers but didn’t use them or send them with me because the Lufthansa website says no food or water in the kennel. Come to find out later the printed instructions we had said we needed empty containers in the kennel…? What’s the point of having an empty container??? However, the guy at the desk said there needed to be food and water. You can understand my confusion and frustration!!!! So, since my baggage was already check – so was Kimani’s food…(UGH) I buy some bottled water and a big old German hot dog. I chew up the hot dog and put it in her container. In the end it all turns out well, in fact, Kimani had no issues – she actually got into her kennel before I had even finished putting it together. It was her refuge after a nervous morning. I wanted to crawl in with her! ;-) My prayer when I got up that morning was for the Lord to clear the way and guide our path and to provide a calm spirit throughout the day. What an answer to prayer! It get’s better. After I shared this with Shelly – she got nervous about Kimani and of course as she started getting wound up it affected me physically…really weird…started feeling sick. I sat down to wait for boarding and got something to eat and Will Cravens sits next to me. We strike up a conversation after he overheard me talking to Shelly and trying to calm her down. Turns out he used to attend a church we used to attend and we know some of the same folks. He and his wife are returning from a missions trip and he tells me a story about when they had to ship there dog and the challenge they had. He provided a calming word when I needed it. Hey folks – only God works like that! God’s hand on our family, his presence as we travel. Feeling blessed and firmly in His grip! Reminds me of the song by Mercy Me, Here with me. “I can feel your presence here with me…. I picked Luke and Shelly up last night and we are all together – another answer to prayer. Preparing to begin many new adventures this week. https://youtube/watch?v=tQRYAML0j_8
