Travis Fadden chases down the leaders to win the NAPA 100 at White Mountain Motorsports Park 2013 Napa Late Model track champion, Travis Fadden, took over the top spot on lap 65 from his 12th place starting position and went on to capture the Napa 100 Late Model feature claiming a cool $2100 pay day at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock Saturday. Other winners on the evening included Elwin Sidney III, Michael Lloyd, Cody LeBlanc, Bobby Brown, and Kaleb Rogers. 20 Late Models were on hand to do battle for the $1500 top prize along with sponsored lap money. Napa has been a long time supporter of WMMP. There are seven stores that take part in the Late Model program and many were on hand to take place in the nights’ events. Stores from Berlin, Littleton, Whitefield, Plymouth, Merideth, Laconia, and Lebanon were allowed to meet the drivers during a pit tour, some were given a chance to wave green flags, and others handed out trophies all night long in Alien Flier victory lane. In qualifying action, Groveton’s Mike Kenison, Claremont’s Mike Jurkowski, and Whitefield’s Brockton Davis carried the checkered flag with their 12 lap wins. That set the stage for a pre-race redraw for the top 12 finishers from the qualifying races. Kids on hand for the night’s events were selected and got to choose a cup with a numbered chip in each one to set the starting field. St Johnsbury’s Tyler Cahoon was the last to draw and the final number remaining in the last cup was the number one. Outside of Cahoon on the front row would be WMMP regular Oren Remick. After the pre-race festivities were over, the huge crowd rose to their feet in approval as 20 of the best Northeast Late Model drivers got set for their 100 lap battle. Great side by side racing allowed Tyler Cahoun to jump out to an early lead with Davis and Stacy Cahoon following. On lap thirteen, contact between Tyler Cahoon and a lapped automobile, allowed Davis to grab the lead. Tyler Cahoon worked his way back into the runner-up spot as caution flew on lap 45. Davis and Cahoon waged a war over the next 10 laps exchanging the lead back and forth. Mean while, all eyes were on the white and red #16 of Travis Fadden. Fadden was on the move from his 12th place starting position and was now in the top three with a front row seat of the battle between the top two cars. Fadden was able to get past Cahoon and set his sights on the top spot. On lap 65, the 2013 champion rolled by in the outside groove for the lead. Caution flew for a minor spin on lap 72, giving everyone one last shot at Fadden. However, the North Haverhill native was on a rail and sped on to victory. Davis, Cahoon, Jeff Marshall, and Remick completed the top five. “The car has been good for us all season long,” said a happy Fadden. “This was a good win for our team.” The White Mountains Community College Tiger/Sportsman saw Elwin Sidney III take to the outside lane and blast to the front, passing pole sitter Matt LeBlanc on lap six to cruise to the 30 lap victory. No body had anything for the blue #88 winning for the third time this season. Scott Coburn, Lucas Wheeler, Jason Capps III and LeBlanc rounded out the top five. LeBlanc won the heat race. The Twisted Tea Dwarf cars were 15 racer strong and the #26 of Jim Wentworth and the #21 of Jeremy Labrecque brought the open-wheeled racers to the green flag. The racing was intense and it didn’t take long for top runner Bobby Brown to work his way up the outside lane to take the point by lap six. Brown had the #45 of Paul Marsan in his rear view mirror. Yellow flew with four laps to go, realigning the field together for one last green. Checkers flew for Brown for the third time this year, with Tim Churchill, Marsen, point leader Jeff Ainsworth, and Jason Wyman in the top five. In the earlier heat events, Brown and Jeremy Labrecque captured the checkers. The Hill Heating Services Strictly Stocks provided plenty of action and had not had a repeat winner in 2014. Rookie drivers Todd Colpitts and Allison Menard brought the V-8 powered division to green. Caution flew for the first time on lap six and when the dust had settled, Michael Lloyd had taken the top spot and had the hard charging Tom Keith on his outside door. The strictlys had plenty of side by side racing as the top point drivers worked their way to the front. Checkers flew for Lloyd allowing him to be the first repeat winner this season in the division. Shane Sicard, Keith, Amanda Wheeler, and Rich Paradise rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Jody Sicard and Lloyd. The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly minis saw Gorham’s Cody LeBlanc use the low groove to take to the point early and roll to his first 20 lap feature win in 2014. LeBlanc was chased to the stripe by the #14 on Michael Richards Jr, the #82 of Colby Bourgeois, Desirae Sicard in her #17 and the #94 of last week winner Jarred Ainsworth. LeBlanc and top point man Jeremy Wyman won the qualifying races. The Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Truck division had six racers present for their 15 lap main event. The 11-14 year old racers are under the watchful eye of Danny Walker and the youngsters continue to improve week after week. Anthony Tompkins and Taylor Coburn brought the field to green and by lap five, last week feature winner, Kaleb Rogers, worked the outside line to take the lead. Two great battles were shaping up as Evan Amour and Rogers were racing for the top spots and Tompkins and Coburn were working for the final podium position. The checkered flag flew for Rogers, with Amour and Coburn completing the top three. The heat victory went to Rogers, making it a perfect night for the Glover, Vermont resident. The racing action returns to the high banks this Saturday night, with five of the WMMP racing divisions in action.
