Treasure in Heaven Mt 6:19-23 [Jesus said to his disciples,] 19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. 20But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be. 22“The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light; 23but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.” Reflection: Where your treasure is, there also will your heart be. What is your treasure? Where is it? Is money your treasure? Then your heart will be in your pocket or in the bank. Thus, when your money is stolen, or the bank collapses, you lose heart, and your heart collapses. Is your treasure in your land? Then you will hold on to your land as long as you can, and you will lose heart when you lose it. But if your treasure is God, then your heart will be in heaven. You will be living a heavenly life! It is not bad to save money, but do not make it your treasure. Your treasure is what possesses you and not what you possess.
