Trees That Try To Run The winter came and went with little snow The trees were the first to know That the spring to come was dry Along with the monsoon less summer sky And autumn’s leaflessness Trees live in timelessness Die the same as you and I Feel pain and die The trees were dying Being eaten alive by the bark beetles Their limbs bleeding Fighting and drying Not one drop from the sky Not one care from the human eye They stand still Trees Masters of meditation With mountains and other masters But a few in the sum want to run From the pain Trees have minds not brains Brighter than our own They are never alone But a few pretend to be alone Trees That Try To Run Never get far
