Trey Wright shared an event. Over the past week or so many people have asked about what Squat is. Here is my (hopefully short) answer: Squat is the reason I am a musician. I was working towards a career in Sociology (go figure!) when I met a group of like-minded musicians with equally bad hair in a jazz improv class at UGA. In 1994 with the support and guidance of Steve Dancz we formed a band with a goofy name to play a couple of gigs. The band played mostly original music borrowing from jazz, blues, afro-cuban, Brazilian, trance, and other styles. I spent most of my 20’s and beyond in a van with these guys and we experienced life together. We had some successes and some failures (especially with vehicles) and in 2009 we quietly went on hiatus. We’ll be playing reunion shows at the Red Light in Atlanta on Saturday (9/21) and Hendershots in Athens next Thursday (9/26) ….. https://facebook/events/179811638871824/
