Tribal Community Activities January 2015 Grandmother Moon Ceremony will be held at Behavioral Health Lodge on Monday, January 5th from 7 pm to 8 pm. Ziibiwing will have a presentation with Dr. Suzanne Cross for her Art Shawl Collection and dinner on Thursday, January 8th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Language Bingo will be on Thursday, January 8th at Andahwod from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The At-Large Department will host a Tax Workshop at the Saganing Tribal Center on Thursday, January 8th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Andahwod will host Elvis’ Birthday Party on Friday, January 9th at 3 p.m. There will be a Breakfast at the Saganing Tribal Center on Friday, January 9th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saganing Tribal Center will host a Blood Drive on Monday, January 12th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traditional Healer, Donnie Dowd, will be at Behavioral Health on Tuesday, January 13th for a Men & Women’s Sweat from 5 pm to 10 pm and traditional healing on Wednesday, January 14th from 10 am to 4 pm. All SCIT Tribal Member Elders from all districts can enjoy a free Elder’s Breakfast on Wednesday, January 14th & January 28th at Andahwod from 9 am to 10 am. There will be a Vendor Training at Ziibiwing on Thursday, January 15th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Tribal Observer deadline for the February issue is Friday, January 16th at 3 p.m. Saginaw Chippwa Indian Tribe’s Domestic Violence Program will host a Strike Down Stalking Bowling on Saturday, January 17th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at CMU Student Activity Center Bowling Alley. Attend the Discovery Museum with the Youth LEAD Department on Saturday, January 17th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. reserve your seat by calling 775-4506. The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe’s Academy will be closed on Monday, January 19th due to Staff Professional Development. Join the Youth LEAD Department for skiing at Crystal Mountain on Monday, January 19th. Women’s Support Group (Nami Migizi Nangwihgan) meets Tuesday, January 20th from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Transportation, childcare and dinner is provided. Andahwod will host Bingo with Friends on Tuesday, January 20th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Family Spirit Parental Group will have a Brunch on Wednesday, January 21st from 10 a.m. to noon at Nimkee Kitchen. 7th Generation will host a Winter Feast on Wednesday, January 21st from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a Two Spirit/Straight Alliance Dinner on Thursday, January 22nd from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ziibiwing Center. A Housing Department Financial Workshop will take place on Thursday, January 22nd at noon with lunch included at the Housing Conference Room. Parent Support Group will be held on Friday, January 30th from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Nimkee Kitchen. The Saginaw Chippewa Academy Parent/Teacher conference will be held on Friday, January 30th from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Youth Lead Department will host a Super Saturday Lunch at the Bavarian Inn at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st tickets are $10 contact 775-4128 to reserve your spot. Residential Treatment Center –Behavioral Health is now offering drop-in relapse prevention groups twice a week. Mondays - 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays - 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Seventh Generation Program has a sacred fire lunch every Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm at the Elijah Elk building on the corner of Remus and Shepherd roads. Anishinaabe Ogitchedaw Veterans Society meets the first Tuesday of the month in the Senior’s Room of Tribal Operation from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Anishinaabe Language Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm. Lunch Bunch meets every Wednesday from noon to 1 pm at the Language Center. Enjoy Open Gym on Wednesdays at the Tribal Gym from 6 pm to 9 pm. Women’s Traditions is held at Behavioral Health on Mondays from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. Keyboarding and Learnkey is held on Tuesday from 2 pm to 4 pm and on Friday from 10 am to noon at the IT department.
