Tribute to Late President YarAdua. Pres. YarAdua remain the best thing that has happened 2 us in our chequered history.If we had a fit YarAdua 4 Obasanjos 8yrs,then Nigeria would surely have been a better place 2 live in.His achievements that had direct impact on the psyche of the citizens/nation by far dwarfs whatever may have been his weaknesses/flaws. 1. Petrol price was reduced from #70 to #65.We didnt know about the subsidy scam even if it existed.Now that we know,we re buyin petrol for #97,that is if u get it at that price. 2. Amnesty was granted 2 militants in the Niger-Delta 2 curb militancy/restiveness.He created a ministry 4 the region as part of the bargain 4 a better Niger-Delta. 3. He had a massive crackdown on Boko Haram in the early days of its terror activities (2009).We did not hear from Boko again until late 2010/early 2011.The 1st bomb went off after his death & was claimed by MEND. 4. There was an appreciable level of respect 4 rule of law & disgust 4 corruption.That is why he had two serving ministers humiliated out of office 4 sharing #300mln & not the billions that we hear today & yet those folks remain in office. 5. He laid the roadmap 4 electoral reforms that would offer us better conduct of elections.He was honest enough 2 admit that his elections were flawed.The judiciary had little or no interference in the exercise of their duties.That is why we had the opposition unseating serving members of the ruling party,an unrealistic thing 2 happen under Obasanjo or Jonathan. 6. The division in the country along North/South & christian/muslim fault lines was barely noticeable,if at all it was there.Many christians didnt even know about CAN talk more of muslims.That is why even northerners asked that he hand over 2 Jonathan when he became incommunicado.It was because the north thought we re all one.I doubt if an average northerner today would have supported the move.YarAdua made sure we lived in peace with little or no suspicion. 7. Increased the salaries of workers across board especially the security agencies so as 2 motivate them 4 efficiency.Put in place the minimum wage & signed agreement with ASUU 2 improve varsity education.The implementation of the latter under Jonathan,himself a former lecturer that used 2 go on strike methink,became a thug of war. 8. Above all,he was very presidential in carriage & actions.He spoke little but 4 every word uttered,there was sense & meaning in it.I can go on & on. Continue 2 rest in peace my mentor,rest!
