Trick #2: Target/Touch My Hand To begin teaching this trick place a yummy treat in between two fingers and hold your hand out to the side. Encourage your dog to investigate your baited hand. As soon as you feel your dog touch your hand with its nose say your praise word and let them have the treat. Practice a few times with the treat in your hand. As your dog begins to get the idea try it with no treat in your hand. See if you can give the cue (target or touch my hand) and have your dog touch your hand with his nose with no treat there. If they do say your praise word and give them a reward. Most dogs catch on pretty quick to this trick, practice several times a day and your dog should know it in no time!
