Tried running again today. Bought some Super Feet orthotics for - TopicsExpress

Tried running again today. Bought some Super Feet orthotics for my running shoes and some compression socks. With the compression socks on, both my shins and achilles began hurting right away. I ran a couple laps with them then decided to take them off. It felt better running without them but still had some pain. When the pain got bad, I stopped running and walked it off, periodically stretching my calves and achilles. When the pain decreased enough, I tried running again until I couldnt and would stretch and rest. By mile 3, my heel, arch and big toe started tingling like it was going numb. If I stopped running or walking for a little bit and stretched, cooling down, the numbness would dissipate. I was able to go a total of 4.25 miles before my foot went totally numb and was too painful to run. So it sounds to me like it is a circulatory problem. When I had tight socks on, it caused pain and removing them helped relieve the pain. When my heart rate gets high, my foot goes numb and when I rest and get my heart rate down, the numbness goes away. So apparently my feet are swelling and losing circulation when my heart rate increases. Not sure what to do about that or why that is happening. May need to go make an appointment with my podiatrist, hes also a marathon runner. Maybe he will have some advice.
