Tried to post earlier tonight so there might be a duplicate in the pipeline....today was our first day of recording in the beautiful church outside of Montreal. It is utterly spectacular and the acoustics are excellent (which is why we travelled here to record in it). It was a terribly hot day - soaring to the high 80s outside with no AC or fans of course (sound pollution) and baking in the church. We are all sweating a lot! The harpsichord actually changed color and became darker so we had to try all kinds of different set ups which is quite unusual for my recording projects. Today it took almost 3 hours but we found something we think is really beautiful that I hope you will enjoy. It is so hot that the harpsichord was fully tuned 4 times today and Yves (the technician on call all day) even ran out once during recording to re tune an octave or so that had fallen in the middle of a movement. So its not ideal circumstances but I think will be worth it in the end for a beautiful color. Here is a video right when I entered the church this morning, before we started recording anything. Tomorrow I shall try and post a video sneak peak of the recording session itself so you can hear something.
