Trinidad News: The 34-year-old mother of six who allegedly abandoned her newborn daughter in a Malick dumpster may have been suffering from postnatal depression. The woman - who was arrested on Friday - has reportedly told police officers that she tried to get rid of the baby girl because she was afraid that she could not take care of another child. She will be taken for counselling today, after which officers will decide whether she will be charged with any crime. Meanwhile, the infant - nicknamed "Destiny" by her rescuers - is continuing her recovery at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. She was discovered at around 9:30 on Thursday night by 53-year-old John Julien, who heard her whimpering from inside a dumpster on Sixth Avenue. He found her wrapped tightly in a market bag with the umbilical cord still attached. Her eyes were covered with tape and her mouth was stuffed with cotton.
