Trinidad and Tobago is in a crisis! Over the last fifteen years - TopicsExpress

Trinidad and Tobago is in a crisis! Over the last fifteen years or so we have been experiencing a disturbing impact of criminal activities, particular, gun violence which has catapult the homicide rate to a bizarre level both in terms of numbers and ruthlessness. Things have gotten so bad that borderline issues is the order of the community to the point where within fifty meters radius (from one street to the next) young men are warring each other. But the most dreadful part of all of this is that the entire community has settled for the gang leader to run the affairs of the people either willingly because their is benefit in it for them or indirectly because of fear. Sad to say that our democracy has now reach that stage as well, where the electorate of all walks of life is willing to accept a corruption figure-head as the leader of their country. It baffles me though that in the short space of three years the society have come to the conclusion that it is better to have a corrupt leader once he performs after ousting a government on the grounds of alleged corruption. Oh what a tangle web we weave when first we set out to deceive.
