Trinity College Kandy Sports Achievements - 2014 Received by email. The achievements of Trinity College’s sports in sports in 2014 should be weighed in gold. Trinity College which commenced in 18th January 1872 and from its inception have always been at the top in sports playing a large part in the life of the school. Sports is one of the equal arms of that Trinity College which means in effect that every boy in the school is expected to play games as part of his education. It was great achievements recorded with very good results particularly after the taking over of the Principal Brig. Udaya Ariyaratne who has been instrumental at his best in the last six years, under his leadership they have done well in all sporting activities and a force to recon with in this modern era. A huge thank you should also go to the coaches, MIC’s and the POG and all the sports sectors and branches of the Old Boys Association. Achievements can be a great way to increase your users engagement within your game. But the MOSt important is to implement achievements in your game to encourage players to experiment with features they might not normally use, or to approach your game with entirely different playing style. Achievements can also be a way of fun for players to compare with their progress with each other and engage in light-hearted competition. Athletics - They boast that the first Asian to get as much as a second place at the Olympics was on of their product Duncan White. In the year 2014 Junior and Senior teams in the championship organized by the Udupi District Athletic Association in India, they were the under 16 champions and the overhaul champions in Sri Lanka with a side containing with the majority of Trintiians. One of their top athletes R.M.G.K Ratnayake was selected to represent the country at the Asian Junior Athletic Championships in China in June 2014, and in the provincial meet, Under 15, 17, Provincial Relay champions. Tennis – out of all the sports, Tennis is probably the oldest sport, in the year 2014 their under 17 and 19 teams were runner-up at the All Island “A” & B division championship. Table Tennis - Chamindu Bandara was the runner up in the under 15 All Island intermediate novices championship and in the All Island International semi-government and private schools table tennis championship, Abdullah Manzil was the boys under 12 singles champion, and Anan Manzail a senior champion. Swimming - started in the 1930’s and have been doing well. In 2014, S. Hapukootuwa and C. Nadasena were selected to the squad established by the Sports Development Department, then were placed third in the Under 14 - 200, 400 and 800 meters Individual Medley and Freestyle at the Junior National Aquatic Championship. Then in the National short course swimming championships 200 meters Individual Medley third place, 200 meters Free style third place and second place in the 400 meters free style. Cricket – which sports came into this school in a real effort was in 1892, and have produced top teams and fine national caps. Last year were number two in the Schools league competition, Ron Chandraguptha was awarded the Schools league best fielder and Ravin Sayer was number tow in bowling. Then in the School boy cricketer of the year awards, were named as the best all island runner-up team, and Ravin Sayer was the best bowler runner-up. The under 17 team were placed number two in the tournament, The for the Coca Cola Cricket Pathway, these cricketers were selected for training Raveen Sayer, Nushan Weerasinghe, Naveen Ekanayake, Duvindyu Tilakaratne, Dilan Jayalath, Lahiru Kuamr, Dilan Samarasinghe, Sachjitra Alawattege, Chavindu Amrasinghe, Yasaran Pitawala, and the end Duvindy Thilakratne was picked as the best bowler.Lahiru Kumara was selected to represent the Sri Lanka under 19 team on their tour to Australia. Rugby - the number one glamour sport in the school, what ever the secret of rugby may be, has been the most popular game at this school, Last year won the Bradby for the fourth consecutive year after 1955, the juniors won the Simithrarchchy cup as well. Also won the Cannon de Saram and N.S. Walter trophies, son the Gen. Dennis Perera memorial trophy. Ended up as the runner-up in the schools A Division league tournament, with less than 16, 15-a-isde All Island tournament number two. Under 16 - 10-a-side tournament Plate champions. In the Asian Junior Rugby Championship A.Tarindu Ratwatte was picked to lead the side the others who were in the team were L.A.B.Girihagama, S.Y.C. Shiek, A.S. Karunatilake, D.C.S. Ratwatte, I.A. Rangala, In the under 14 tournament were division I plate champions. Under 13 won the Central Province schools Mini rugby tournament, the in the All Island under 18 rugby tournament 2014 were plate champions. Shooting – Kaveesha Nanayakara was selected to represent the country at the Intertional Junior air rifle shooting event, O.D.Oshada Ratwatte, M. Hassan Razik, M. Amir Dazlul and K Sudarashan were selected to the Sri Lanka schools shooting sport pool for the Asian Youth games. K.G. Nanayakra won the merit performer in 10 M Air Pistol – Men’s junior shooting championship in Germany. Chandeepa Ratanayake was selected to represent the country at the international junior air rifle shooting championship in Poland. Karate – In the 12th Tenshin Cup Internatioanl Karate Championship organized by the Japan Karate association – Do Thenshinkan, did their best and won many awards. They also did well in the Central Province Schools Karate tournament and All Island School Games. Chess – Bhaya Ransinghe and M.S. Fridous were ranked 3rd and 12th in the under 15 Central Provience championship. Under 11 and 13 students took part in the All Island tournament. Gymnastic – Did extremely well at the National Sports festival, Provincial Sports meet. Badminton – their senior and juniors gave off their best and the under 16 team were “B champions. Hockeys - Though this sport was played from the late 1930’s only in 1950 school was granted participation at this game and have done well since then, last year D.B.G.K.E. Jayasinghe and R.G.T.A. Ratnayake were selected to represent the Sri Lanka school team at the 4th Asian championship in Malaysia. A.B. Waleed, R.G.T. A Ratnayake, J.A.D.K. Jayasinghe were selected to play for the Sri Lanka schools under 15 and 18 teams at the 41st Pesta Usm tournmanet in Malaysia. Baseball - They were over all champions in the Relay championship, under 17 over all champions, over all runner-ups, in the Central Province Schools – sports competition. Weightlifting– Have produced some top class iron sportsmen, and were under 19 All Island schools champions for the fifth consecutive year. Boxing - a sport which was introduced to this school in 1907 for the jounior boys and later became a serious school sport, Lesley Hadunge known as Perera in school represented the country in the 1948 and 1952 Olympics. In the last year to they gave their best in boxing. Athletes. Iron sportsmen and swimmers were awarded Kandy School Colors, also received Sri Lanka school sports colors for cricket, swimming, hockey, boxing, rugger and athletics. Their Cadets and the School Western Bam too has done well. The Future - Trinity College has evolved into a National School emphasizing good discipline which offer students every facility to grow into a complete personality, a school with achievements so diversified that there is an abandance of life throughout the day and everyday. Those passing through the school have held position of responsibility in their own land and have shown remarkable competence at International Level. It Is a multi-ethical and a multi-religious SChool which have a Christian foundation, will undoubtedly help to establish peace and harmoney amost a divided nation which the current Principal Brig. Udaya Ariyaratne has so very well since taking over this school which he has proved for himself and the institution is so very proud. Trinity College WIll build on its heritage and goes to greater heights in the new year 2015 and beyond. The Motto of Trinity is Respica Finem so Trinity looks if not to the end, but to the year ahead in serving the youth of Sri Lanka in the Modern Era.
