Trio of events coming up for Harding Home The Harding Home Presidential Site has something for everyone on its agenda -- from those who like cemetery investigations, to those who want to hit the road, to those who want a fun lecture about the nation’s first ladies. At 6:30 p.m. August 7, “Stories in Stone” will begin at the Receiving Vault in Marion Cemetery. For $5 (Friends of the Harding Home members, students and children are free), attendees will examine the symbols and art which abound in the cemetery. Each attendee will receive a field packet to decipher the symbols and theorize about the stories of past Marionites. Ohio History Connection’s Erin Bartlett, Harding Home researcher Jon Andersen, and Harding Home site manager Sherry Hall will lead groups during our short walking tour. Registration is now open for the Sept. 9 Harding Trail Bus Tour, which will begin at 9 a.m. and end at approximately 3 p.m., at the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau parking lot. The charter bus, underwritten by the Waddell Foundation, will visit the important spots in Warren Harding’s history – Blooming Grove, Caledonia and Iberia. Several stops and great, new information have been added since last year’s inaugural tour. Boxed lunches are included. Cost is $30 per seat, and $25 for Friends of the Harding Home and members of the Ohio History Connection. Advance registration is required by September 3 by calling the Harding Home at 740.387.9630, or sending an email to [email protected]. At 7 p.m. on Sept. 25, Andy Och will present “The First Ladies Man” at Morrill Hall on the Marion campus. Och traveled the country for C-Span, filming and interviewing at 35 presidential sites for the popular First Ladies series. Saying he has a unique perspective because of the research he has done and first ladies he has “met,” Och has presented his new program at several presidential sites in the past few months. Tickets are available for $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Prices for members of the Ohio History Connection or Friends of Harding Home are $15 at the door and $13 in advance.
