Trip, 11 days so far. It feels rejuvenating but time to evaluate. i spent so far about 750 dollars excluding airfare ($250 + 200 in JetBlue points / miles) accommodation + bicycle rental was a 25 USD a day. then it was about 25/35 a day for transportation food, buying T shirts that I did not bring. Things that broke: my portable new 2 TB Western Digital hard drive, but I brought another 1 TB as a spare and I have 32 GB memory cards that last long. Will be replaced under warranty. My Nikon AW1 underwater camera today leaked. I have a spare cheap UW P&S Nikon AW110 that cant compare (todayss cover photo). Anyway my AW1 should be covered by Nikons warranty or AMEX buyer protection or travel insurance. I spent about $40 in meds, I wish I took antibiotics Azitromicina right away to save me some night cough. 3 day therapy, worked great. No sunburn as the sun is not as strong as in May / June. I could have sufficed with Hawaiian Coconut oil SPF 4 instead of 15. My Cressi black mask strap failed, but I had with me the Mares spare, but I prefer black masks to clear ones and the Cressi Minima is less tight on my nose. But always bring spare as diving stuff it is always overpriced in these places (or in Miami Beach). One of my Cressi fins cracked against a rock on a rough day. Fins these days are made of plastic rather than the more durable rubber. I ripped a pair of swim trunks but I bought better ones at San Francisco market. I never had any stomach sickness at all, but food contains a lot less fiber, so better eat probiotic yogurt every day. Yogurt here, even Danone is a lot better than in the USA because it contains less sugar. I am a bit bummed that my underwater camera failed the day i found the most amazing beach with amazing coral formations in clear waters. I am happy i did not rent a car, buses are great. Now I wonder whether going to Chichen Itza or not.
