Trip Update, Part 1: Expansive Area and Schools We arrived - TopicsExpress

Trip Update, Part 1: Expansive Area and Schools We arrived back home from our whirlwind trip! It was a very productive and encouraging trip as the Lord deepened our passion for reaching Raleigh. We praise him for giving us better insight to this sprawling area. I began this trip excited to explore Raleigh, while feeling overwhelmed at the expansive area we needed to investigate. As comparison, it would be like investigating Cape Coral to Fort Myers, and south to Marco Island. Raleigh is like the bulls-eye, with growth surrounding it. How would we figure out which area God is calling us to plant?! The meeting with the Wake County Special Ed. Dept. was to be a key factor to help us narrow our focus. There are 11 elementary schools in various areas with the program Audrey needs. I had hopes that the specialist would give us direction about which of these schools would fit Audrey best, thus pointing us to look at those areas. But they gave no such hints. To further complicate things, many of the schools are at capacity and not accepting new students due to the rapid growth. So even if you move into that area, your child may not get into that school. In addition, half of the schools are on traditional calendar and half are year-round with multiple tracks in order to accommodate more students. Trying to get your kids on the same school calendar becomes a challenge. I left that meeting feeling discouraged as to how we would figure out the school situation. It was one of the many times I would need to invite Jesus into the situation and choose to trust that he has it all worked out. Part 2 to follow.
