TripAdvisor Tuesday: Canadatraveljunki... Quote: Quilchena Hotel & Resort After passing this grand old hotel many times over the years, we finally booked a room. Located on highway 5A between Merritt and Kamloops, the hotel sits on one of British Columbias largest working cattle ranches. Of course, the beef dinner we enjoyed in the hotel dining room was absolutely superb! The hotel was built in 1908 and has been in the original family since. The rooms have been well maintained and still reflect the early 1900s. You have two choices--a room without a bathroom or a junior suite with. We opted for the latter and although the suite was small, it was well appointed and had a very comfortable bed. The hotel has a small coffee shop for breakfast but perhaps its most unique feature is its saloon complete with a bar full of bullet holes. In the evening, you can expect to see local cowboys enjoying a pint or two and regaling other patrons with stories of years gone by.
