Trivia. Trivia about wikipedia, partly. :-) For Londons founding as a city, wikipedia says Settled by Romans c. 43 AD (as Londinium) For Exeter, the person who filled in the wikipedia form wrote Time immemorial—nice. :-) I wonder how much of my life would be good to invest in finding which other cities are listed as time immemorial. I like it, having grown up in a country without any very old settlements. The pueblos I grew up near have archeological estimates (from tree-ring dating, I think) of having moved from cliff dwellings to adobe row houses near the Rio Grande (in what in Europe was The Middle Ages). All the European settlements were documented (if Eriks Saga is documentation), and so none prehistoric. (Mexico, Peru, other places have their own business.) I like time immemorial. No need for anniversary bumper stickers or parades.
