Troefcall tournament Saturday | 15:00 - 19:00 | Indiaspora deck The troeftjall (officially "Tjall") from India originates between the 15th and 16th century BC. Back then, a set consisted of 12 cards. The characters were elephants, horses, humans and other images. The game travelled from India to Persia where it was called Ganjifah. Immigrants from India brought the game to Surinam. During the migration to Surinam, they played the game on the boat. Rules The game is played by two couples. Each player is dealt 13 cards. The jokers are discarded. First, the caller gets 5 cards and appoints which symbol will act as Trump (Tjall) during the game. The dealer ensures that every player gets 13 cards. As long as the caller has not played, you may not look at your cards. When a couple makes 7 strokes and the opposing team doesn?t make a single stroke, it is called a "kap". The winner gets 5 points. In a game that does not result in a kap, the couple with 7 strokes gets 2 points. When a couple makes 13 strokes, it is called a "Baunie". The winner gets 15 points. In Tjall, Baunie means total victory and years of embarrassment for the losers. Thanks to the research by Paul Loetawan. Sign up for the tournament now by visiting indianbeach.nl
