Trooper, does he really need a bio ? Lol, who doesnt know this guys story.... Trooper was picked up in Tunica county by animal control the last week of February 2014. The moment Tunica Humane Society posted his picture I called Sandy Williams and told her I would foster. I lost my heart to him immediately. He was taken straight to the vet and they really were not sure he would live thru the night. Trooper was so emaciated weighing in at only 32 lbs, had every parasite a dog can have, labored breathing from advanced heartworm infestation, and buckshot wounds on his back and rear end. Well survive he did, when he was stable I picked him up from the vet and brought him home. Ive cried so many tears over this boy because of the abuse and starvation he has suffered. Ive held him in my arms and told him he would never go thru that again, he would never see the ugliness of humans or ever want for anything. Troopers battle back from the edge of death has been a long one, several emergency trips to the vet for coughing up blood from the heartworms. His body was so weak from the starvation at times he could hardly walk. Mange covered his entire body and parts of his skin had turned black and hard. But Trooper has lived up to his name and has survived the treatments and today is happy and healthy and weighs 70 lbs. some of the marks and scars on his body will never go away but he wears them like medals. He is a survivor in the truest form. This boy is so very special to me and I will be devastated when he goes to his forever home. Alot of people think I should adopt Trooper myself and if I cannot find the perfect forever home for him then I will no doubt. But I will tell you why I will let him go, All that he has been thru, suffered thru, he deserves a home that can give him 100 percent of their time and love. He should be spoiled and loved unconditionally the rest of his life. While I do truly love him I cannot give him the time he deserves to have. Its only fair for me to love him enough to let him have the life he deserves. Trooper is 5 yrs old, he is good with kids but he is big and strong and goofy, hes so happy to be alive and feeling good that he could easily knock a child or an elderly person over without knowing it. He is picky about what dogs he gets along with so I would recommend a short hair female around the same size ( he does not like long haired dogs ) Trooper has irreversible heart damage from the severe case of heartworms. When he gets to excited he coughs. But he is fine, hes healthy now and he loves to cuddle and be near you at all times. If your interested in adopting Trooper please call Sandy at Tunica Humane Society. 662-519-1700
