Troopers along with numerous local, state, and federal agencies participated in the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Annual Disaster Response Exercise. The exercise took place at the Bonne Carre Spillway in St. Charles Parish and is intended to validate the State of Louisiana emergency response plan and incorporate key state agencies affiliated with search and rescue and evacuation operations. During the multi-agency exercise, first responders conducted water rescue, hazardous material exposure, aerial support, animal rescue, and communication interoperability simulations. Disaster response personnel regularly practice these lifesaving operations in preparation for actual emergencies across the state of Louisiana
