Tropical Cyclone Warning Number 17 for SHEFA Province and Northern part of TAFEA Province. Tropical Cyclone Warning Number 17 issued by the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-Hazards Department, Port Vila at 9:19am VUT Wednesday 12 March 2014 for SHEFA Province and Northern part of TAFEA Province. At 8:00am local time, Tropical Cyclone Lusi was located at 17.4 degrees South 170.4 degrees East. The system is positioned at the center of the square letter J, number 7 (J,7) of the Vanuatu Tropical Cyclone Tracking Map (meteo.gov.vu/TropicalCyclones/VanuatuTrackingMap/tabid/176/Default.aspx). This is about 205 KM northeast of Erromango and 220 KM east of Efate. Tropical Cyclone Lusi moved in an east southeast direction at 13 KM/HR (7 knots) in the past 3 hours. The central pressure of the system is estimated at 976 hPa. Winds close to the centre are estimated at 110 KM/HR (60 knots). Tropical Cyclone Lusi is forecasted tobe at 18.5 degrees South 172.0 degrees East within the next 12 hours. Damaging Gale force winds of 75 KM/HR will continue affect SHEFA and Northern part of TAFEA province. Strong winds of 60KM/HR are expected to affect Southern parts of TAFEA province today.Strong Winds over MALAMPA province will weaken as the system continues to move southeast.
