Tropical Depression #5 became Tropical Storm Dolly overnight - TopicsExpress

Tropical Depression #5 became Tropical Storm Dolly overnight (animated satellite loop can bee seen here: is.gd/VL17WE ). The tropical forecast models make an interesting pattern that might lead some to believe that there is a chance that Dolly could bring meaningful rain to the region, but Dolly will remain too far south, and rapidly dissipate after making landfall. Dolly should enhance sea breeze shower activity this afternoon to the point where some showers could reach San Antonio and beyond this afternoon/this evening. The best chance for rain in the coming days will be along the Rio Grande, where the remnants of Dolly could produce up to an inch of rain over the course of the next few days. There are indications that a front could reach as far south as Central Texas by Friday, giving some of the region a chance for some isolated/scattered showers and storms, but as mentioned yesterday, there are no large scale systems in the pipeline that would give South Texas prolonged, widespread, meaningful rain. Lots of Sun, with variably cloudy skies, isolated sea breeze showers, and high temperatures running at or above average (93°-98°) through the end of the week. #TXwx #SATwx #tropics
