Tropical Disturbance 1 (Invest 96L) is currently located north of the Virgin Islands. Probability of further development into a tropical cyclone is rated as high (60% in 48 hours, 80% in 5 days). There is considerable variability in track models showing tracks that take the storm into the Gulf of Mexico, over the Bahamas and recurving north sharply out to sea (the majority forecast), following a track to seeward of the southeast Atlantic coast of the United States, or making landfall on the southeast Atlantic coast.
