Tropical Storm Bertha is nearing the Southeastern Bahamas, centered at 11 a.m. EDT about 175 miles southeast of San Salvador. Maximum sustained winds are 45 mph. Some strengthening during the next 48 hours is forecast. Tropical storm conditions are expected during the next several hours over portions of the Southeastern Bahamas and the Turks & Caicos Islands. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches, with isolated amounts up to 5 inches, are expected over eastern portions of the Dominican Republic and the Turks & Caicos Islands through Monday.
