Tropical Storm Karen tonight continues to take aim at portions of the northern U.S. Gulf Coast. There have been a few changes in the watches and warnings for the coast line - including the issuance of a tropical storm warning from Grand Isle, Louisiana to the mouth of the Pearl River. It does NOT include Metro New Orleans, Lake Maurepas or Lake Ponchartrain. And, a hurricane watch is in effect for Grand Isle, Louisana, to west of Destin, Florida. Maximum sustained winds in Karen are 65 mph, and it could be at or near hurricane strength late Friday and early Saturday. On the forecast track,, the center of Karen is expected to be near the coast within the hurricane watch area on Saturday. Karen poses dangers that include wind, storm surge and flooding rainfall.
