Trout fishing has been very good over the last couple of weeks at the foot hills to the snowy mountains. We have encountered good but not great numbers in the very upper reaches of most creeks and they have been just as happy to rise for dries as they have been smashing the other halfs small lures. The lower more easily accessible areas of the creeks have not fished so well so if you have been struggling at your regular spots it might pay to put your hiking boots on and head up into the scrub. Its hard work but the rewards are certainly worth the effort.
