Trucking is extremely different than what the average person sees. - TopicsExpress

Trucking is extremely different than what the average person sees. A driver can go days without a hot shower or a cooked meal due to electronic logs that control when you start or stop your day. You must stop before the 14th hour is expired or you will get either a ticket by law enforcement, or a citation from the companies Safety dept. You are watched closely by the computers telling you if you are speeding, or if you hit your brakes to hard, drive in the wrong gear to long......all this to say, then when trying to sleep somewhere because a truck stop or a rest area wasnt available when you had to shut down, law enforcement at the behest of a business, wakes you up in the night and runs you off as if your some homeless person. Oh you can go in and shop most cases, just dont stay......I think it should be mandatory that ALL counties maintain a minimum of 1 truck parking area with a convenience store equipped with showers and it be 100% truckers only. It is about safety and also respect. Any county not doing so should be fined as such. I hate asking to park on my way out of a business and have them look at you like trash.......Carroll County Ohio is the worst Ive seen in many years and I practically lived in New Jersey in a truck. There was nothing there to speak of, now two brand new hotels, stores have come in, eateries have expanded, and it is all because of the natural gas and oil exploration industry, yet they harass the very hand that feeds them.....shame on all the trustees and council members, and businesss that discriminate. Many of us are local ourselves supporting a family.
