True Power: Sunday January 18, 2015. The Beginning: Lesson 2 (cont.) 5:58pm Preface to thee New King James Version. Ok lets get started with Lesson 2 beginning with the new testament. But before we do I want to share with you what material I am using as we go along. We are going to go over some of the information that I have in front of me out of my own New King James Version Second Edition by Thomas Nelson Copyright 1982 by Thomas Nelson, Inc. It save a lot of time and work and we must give credit were credit is due. You see God uses all things for the glory of himself. So I am turning in this version to the Preface to the New King James Version to the heading that say Purpose. Purpose: In the preface to the 1611 edition, the translators of the Authorized Version, known popularly as the King James Bible, state that it was not their purpose to make a new translation , but to make a good one better. Indebted to the earlier work of William Tyndale and others, they saw their best contribution to consist in revising and enhancing the excellence of the of the English version which had sprung from the Reformation of the sixteenth century. In harmony with the purpose of the King James scholars, the translators and editors of the present work have not pursued a goal of innovation. They have perceived the Holy Bible, New King James Version, as a continuation for the labors of the earlier translators, thus unlocking for todays readers the spiritual treasure found especially in the Authorized Version of the Holy Scriptures. Pastors Bell: I want you to look at the purpose of rightly dividing the word of truth, not trying to mislead you or change the word of truth. That is very important as we continue to the next section titled A Living Legacy.
