True Story: I saw one of my all time favorite movies the other night Sleepers Its with Brad Pitt, Dustin Huffman, Robert DeNiro and Young Brad Renfro. Its the story about kids in Hells Kitchen New York. who get in trouble and go to a boys detention center.They get rapped and tortured by the guards as one Kevin Beacon. I really love this Movie Ive seen it many times, but this time i got real emotional about it. In the year 2000 I just got home from Costa Rica I was a professional fishing mate and was filling in one night on the drift Boat Catch my Drift in Fort lauderdale. I was cleaning my customers fish around 11 pm. This young Kid comes up and said Hey Man I want to get some beer and rent a boat now I am a Movie star He said he was in sleepers and the Client just got done shooting a film that day. I said do you have any money I was drinking at the time and gave him half my beer. He said he had a gun down his pants and wanted to rob someone. I said show me the gun, 18 yr old Brad Renfro pulls out a bottle of Jagger Mester and started downing it.Then he told me he would go get a credit card form the hotel and come back. I went Home. Hours later Brad Renfro returned to try and steal a 45 Hatterus the Time out that was still tied to the dock. My good friend Capt. Kent Kunta Smith was on his boat and got him off the boat and called the police. Young drunk Brad went to Jail.. Kunta was a hero the dock was on the news for a while. Ive seen the movie many times after meeting Brad and I knew he died of an overdose recently 2008. But like I said I really felt bad the other night I wish I was sober when i met him. So I looked up his Bio the other day because Ive been thinking a lot about that movie and that Kid that died. The first think it said is he was a prolific Guitar player and his Idol was Led Zeppelins Jimmy Page.. RIP Brad Renfro I wish i could of helped you that night.
