True apostolic ministry requires mentoring, carrying on the work - TopicsExpress

True apostolic ministry requires mentoring, carrying on the work of Christ requires that we learn what has been handed down to us. This is why scholasticism is important. The Church has been here for over 2000 years. When we dont accept this, we meander around often debating doctrines aka issues that were resolved in The church Councils the first being in Nicea in the 4th Century. But scholasticism is not just for clergy that is the problem. Poorly educated but sincere clergy and people trained to accept oral truth as fact. The Bereans listened to Apostles teaching then afterward came together w/o them to study themselves to see if what they were taught they believed as truth. Study is needed for the royal priesthood. We have too much oral tradition /doctrine beliefs that were never vetted by the people yet held as fact. True mentoring is to give people the challenge to learn and question. So that they can follow the doctrines and see where they come from. I wish we had taken more of this burden to learn our history from our Judiac roots. Every Jewish child learns the same history and language until they are 14. Can you imagine how different modern Pentcostalism would be if we ALL had learned our church history and basic Greek in Sunday School and had to preach a lesson in front of the community to join the community? We wouldnt have to have a job description preacher everyone would be one. -Bishop Cheryl Windom-Davis
