True story: About 12 years ago when I was living in Atlanta I was a member of a Jack Bauer / 24 fan group on Yahoo. We used to post updates in real time as we watched the show together each week (this was pre-Twitter, so no live tweeting the show like the kids do today). We were a small fan community and became pretty close. While our fan club is no more, one of the members of this group I stayed in touch with over the years is Kate Laws. Kate rocks. Meanwhile... I went to work in Iraq and eventually met Bill. We moved to the Philippines four and a half years ago and became involved in animal rescue work here. Through a series of random events we became connected with a little group called the Philippine Animal Rescue Team (P.A.R.T.). One of the founders of that group, Connie D. Langlois, and I really hit it off and became friends. Connie was born in the Philippines but has lived in California for over half her life. When I started working for Thumbtack they sent me on a trip to San Francisco, and Connie and I got to meet for the first time in person. I also got to meet her husband, Steve Langlois. Awesome guy. So what? Turns out Steve grew up with Kates husband--in Idaho.
