True story and then I will get back to work: Yesterday morning I woke up before 7 to start writing, went into the bathroom to pop in my contact lenses and LOST one. It simply disappeared off the tip of my finger. Spent many minutes looking for it using prescription glasses that resemble Coke bottle bottoms. No luck. Had to spend the day writing using said specs, which give me a headache and vertigo and self-esteem issues. At bedtime, while brushing my teeth, there is the little lens, staring at me just behind the hot water tap, potato-chip dry and insolent. What the heck, I said. I popped him in saline solution and let him sleep it off and get re-hydrated. This morning, he looks amazingly like his obedient brother. I pop him in and wait for the Needles of Death. But they dont come. Ugly glasses are back on the bedside table where they belong. Who woulda thunk it?
