True to being powerhungry ruthless dictators, Assads have done more harm to Alawis than good. As told almost 10 years ago by a dear Alawi Communist friend who is married to a Pakistani Sunni lady and still lives in Aleppo: Cruel Assads have only benefitted their close family and elite. Most Alawis are poor and live on mountains without electricity. Similar here in the article today: “I don’t like Bashar Assad,” he said, as he swirled the dregs of cold coffee around in his cup. “In fact, I hate him. He is the one who put the Alawites into this situation.” But as the war crept closer, he also realized that he would be thrust into the fight no matter what he did. “If I was kidnapped by the Free Syrian Army, they would kill me for simply being an Alawite,” he said. “No one would care about my opinion.” May the world powers rise and resolve the Humanitarian crisis that has come out due to this dirty power game, where whether now or later, it is the ordinary humanity that will be made to suffer, not the big players who set this chess-game of blodd bath. AND HOPE THE WORLD LEARNS SOME LESSON FROM THIS HORROR.
