Trust-Government How do we create an organization that will protect the planet, regulate the corporations, provide us with education and security, and which will not abuse those powers? There is a need for government, but people are not perfect. Give a person some power, and they will abuse it to help themselves, their family, their friends, their home community, etc. I trust no one. If you set a spy to watch the wealthy, he will eventually be bribed. If you set a spy to watch the powerful, the spy becomes afraid of the consequences of reporting. I often think of meta-gaming. That is, you have management, you have spies, and then you have spies watching the spies (meta-spies). Meta-spies are allowed to eliminate spies, and they are told that there are meta-meta-spies watching them. Occasionally you let them find clues that indicate that there is such an organization. In real life, this really exists. In another direction, there are trails of upper (meta) level wealth and power. The super wealthy 0.1% can easily be controlled by unknown parties. Either by threats upon their life or the lives of their families, or whisking away portions of their fortune and power. The revelation that there is $32 trillion in offshore accounts, which is 500 times the wealth of the richest man on the planet, is a clear indication of that. That amount is more than the known wealth of all of the top 1% combined. Capitalism drives a very hot economy, and spurs innovation. We benefit from that. But the playing field needs to be leveled every once in a while so that more people have access to the resources.
