Trust in the Light Who is the Son of Man? Was the question of - TopicsExpress

Trust in the Light Who is the Son of Man? Was the question of the day. People had a preconceived notion of who the Messiah would be. They had been waiting for Him to come and they thought they knew scripture. Their picture of the Messiah did not fit with Jesus telling them that he would have to suffer and die on the cross. It made no sense to them. Jesus never fits into our preconceived notions about him. We cannot make God into our own image. It just does not work that way. We either accept him for who He is and what He has done for us or we walk away and try to find another god who will fit our image. What a loss that would be. Jesus comes to us in His word and says trust me. I am the only Savior from sin death and the devil. I have come to give you life and light into this world of darkness, death and sin. I have come to set the captives free so trust in me. May we live in the hope of Gods promises fulfilled in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. God bless you on this Reformation Day. 1. A mighty Fortress is our God, A trusty Shield and Weapon; He helps us free from every need That hath us now oertaken. The old evil Foe Now means deadly woe; Deep guile and great might Are his dread arms in fight; On Earth is not his equal. 2. With might of ours can naught be done,Soon were our loss effected; But for us fights the Valiant One, Whom God Himself elected. Ask ye, Who is this?Jesus Christ it is. Of Sabaoth Lord, And theres none other God; He holds the field forever. 3. Though devils all the world should fill,All eager to devour us. We tremble not, we fear no ill, They shall not overpower us. This worlds prince may still Scowl fierce as he will, He can harm us none, Hes judged; the deed is done; One little word can fell him. 4. The Word they still shall let remain Nor any thanks have for it; Hes by our side upon the plain With His good gifts and Spirit. And take they our life, Goods, fame, child and wife, Let these all be gone, They yet have nothing won; The Kingdom our remaineth. John 12:34 The crowd spoke up, We have heard from the Law that the Christ {34 Or Messiah} will remain forever, so how can you say, The Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man? 35 Then Jesus told them, You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. 36 Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light. When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. 37 Even after Jesus had done all these miraculous signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him. 38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? {38 Isaiah 53:1} 39 For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: 40 He has blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn-- and I would heal them. {40 Isaiah 6:10} 41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus glory and spoke about him.
