Trusting Completely in the Lord O Lord my God, in thee do I - TopicsExpress

Trusting Completely in the Lord O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: Psalm 7:1 When we trust in someone we are relying that they would do what they have promised they would do. Our friends who would do anything in their power to help are limited in what they can do. In Psalm 108:12b we read, “For vain is the help of man.” Jeremiah is very bold when he said in chapter 9:4-5a, “Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth:” Many times we have trusted in a friend to help us, but they only helped a little or failed to help at all. Micah 7:5 says, “Trust ye not in a friend, put no confidence in a guide: keep the door of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.” But how different it is with God as in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” In what or who do you rely? As we read through Psalm 7, David brings everything to the Lord. He unburdens his heart trusting that his Lord will do right. In verse 8 David says, “The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.” The Lord who knows the heart and the secrets within is also asked by David to search his heart. If God would search our hearts what would He find? Is it like Peter when Jesus asks him, “Loveth thou me” (John 21:16)? Love covers a multitude of sins. The Lord says in Jeremiah 31:3, “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” O, the love of God for His people is so great that He sees them only through the blood of His own Son, which covers all their sins. God casts them into the sea of eternal forgetfulness. It is His righteousness that makes us righteous. In Psalter 13:5 and 7 this is exclaimed. “Establish the righteous let evil depart, for God who is just tries the tho’ts of the heart. In God for defense I have placed all my trust; the upright He saves and He judges the just. Because He is righteous His praise I will sing, thanksgiving and honor to Him I will bring, will sing to the Lord on Whose grace I rely, extolling the Name of Jehovah Most High.” This love of God to His people, in return will bring love to their Triune Lord, when they see the cost of their salvation. Is all undeserved and unasked for, but at Calvary Jesus cries out, ”Father forgive them for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). However in the 11th and 12th verses the verdict to the ungodly is fearful, “God is angry with the wicked every day. If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.” Which one do you belong to?
