Truth Always Sets Us Free! “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32. This scripture explains that the truth is Jesus. There is no other way to be saved except through Jesus, no matter how good we are or what we do for others. Jesus is the only way! Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6. There are many religions in the world today declaring various means and ways to enter heaven, but we, as God’s children, know the ONLY way for us is through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Not only is Jesus the truth to understanding eternity but He’s truth in how we should live our lives each day. God’s Word describes to us the life of Jesus as a model to live by. By reading the scriptures, we understand how Jesus handled daily living. He walked in love and spoke truth. He encountered rejection and strife just like we do today. Yes, there were those who hated and despised him. Sometimes we feel we are the only ones going through a situation, but Jesus faced almost the same and conquered each situation with love. Jesus is truth. He never lied even under pressure. He never fell prey to “white lies” (those little lies that we think aren’t important). Friends, a lie is a lie and truth is truth. There’s nothing in between and no justification for not telling the truth to smooth a situation over. We are called to live a life of truth (Jesus). When we walk in truth in what we say and do, we feel free and burdens are lifted off our shoulders. Lying usually lead to others lies, getting deeper and more difficult. I grew up hearing this old saying, “Oh the tangled web we weave.” “I stand in the evil day having my loins girded about with truth….” Ephesians 6:14. Today, I encourage you to choose truth, (Jesus). He is the way, truth, and life. Truth sets us free!
