Truth Without Sugar Acts 25:1-27… In this chapter we have the continuation of Paul’s trial before the rulers of the land Felix, Festus, and king Agrippa. This is also another section of the book of Acts where God’s plan and Paul’s desire are together as one, but does Paul know that? I don’t know. I said a few passages back that sometimes when we want to be used by God we complain about what is happening to us (most of us) but sometimes our request to be used is applied in a way that we do not expect nor do we like. Just because we don’t like the way in which the Lord is using us now does not diminish the fact that it is not always easy to be a servant of the Lord. It does not diminish the truth that God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are all together sovereign in the truth of who they are. As we read this entire chapter we see that Paul is getting the chance to speak of the Lord to leaders of cities, nations, and countries, does this not fall into the Great Commission that has been asked of all of us? (1) “Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). (2) “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). (3) “Thus it is written…repentance for forgiveness of sin would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning with Jerusalem” (Luke 24:46-47). You see this is the direction of the Lord and as seen above is quite simply put in the gospels – “To make disciples” Where we are in life – “To preach the gospel to all” because all Christians should be disciples (students) – “To have His glory preached via the gospel” (Good News) message to all nations, (Neighborhood missions, community missions etc. etc). Yes it was also Paul’s desire to go to Rome but I’m sure he wanted to get there by another means. Sometime “our means” are not there but the command/calling of the Great Commission is set before all Christians to do our part where we are and whatever season we are in. The road is hard and the journey is sometimes full of tears, but the Lord has not left us even though our sight is blurred with questions of “Why.” Stay strong my friends.
