Truth Without Sugar Matthew 27:52-56…Matthew has a portion that has been placed out of order in this passage. To have the veil torn and then to have the dead raised from the grave (Vs.51-52) is simply out of order and it did not happen that way because Jesus had not been raised yet Himself, so there is no way that others would go before Jesus at this point “Jesus is the head of the body, the church, and the firstborn from the dead so that he Himself will be first among everything.” (Col. 1:18) “And the first to proclaim Light to the people” (Acts 26:23). So as verse 52 states in Matthew these risen saints do not appear until – after - the resurrection of Jesus. (SIDE NOTE HERE) We need to remember that none of the gospels were written on a day by day basis many were written after the death of the Apostles and written by one of their closest (scribe) friends or a close follower of that disciple. But let me remind you that all scripture writing was directed by the Holy Spirit. Look at these passages concerning the leading of the Holy Spirit in the written scriptures (1Cor.2:12-13 – 2Tim.3:16 – 2Pet. 1:16-21). As we look at the comments of the Centurion there does seem to be something different about this darkness, the earthquake, and through various events of the day, this man notices and identifies Jesus as the Son of God (vs.54). Just as the one thief who was ridiculing Jesus also realized who Jesus was and asked the Lord to remember him, so the same could have happened with this centurion. My friends it is never too late to come to the Lord and as we have seen even during these last sections there were some who realized who Jesus really was even though He “was marred in appearance and physical form beyond any man” (Isa52:14). As long as you have breath in your lungs you have a chance to accept Christ as personal Lord and Savior of your life but once you have expired from this life you have no more chances because your choice was made by denying and or rejecting the Lord during your time on this earth. Make the best use of your time this week and choose God.
