Truth Without Sugar Matthew 7:1-5…Are you really not to judge another? Many people say that you cannot judge another, but let me say this. These verses talk of judgment to the point of condemnation, lording your righteousness over another in their actions, placing yourself on a higher level than they. If we judge out of jealousy and anger and vindictiveness (judging out of revenge, anguish, spite or to cause harm) then this will be the way that you are judged. Will it be by God that you are judged that way? or will it be by others, that you are judged that way? Hard to say, verses 3&4 speak of judging someone with your sins and issues at hand, it may be the same sin that they have but yet in your pride you are telling them what to do when you don’t even do what you offer for them to do. We must first remove the log from our eye before we can help another. Do we have to be 100% pure no we just have to have a pure heart coupled with the correct intentions and motive to help the other person. Psalm 50:6 says that God is judge and yes he is, most of us agree with that verse. The bible is also given for teaching, reproof, and correction for training in righteousness (2Tim 3:16). In 1Tim1:20 two were handed over to Satan for a while for teaching and Paul did the same thing. That requires a judgment. 1 Tim3 speaks of a list concerning pastors, leaders, elders and teachers, verse 10 even says they should be tested, (Judged) in these areas to be beyond reproach. Those who are thinking about James 4:11-12 and Romans 14:1-4 these both have to do with petty anger judgments, worldly judgments. What about those who hold to a form of godliness in 2Tim 3:1-5, this requires a judgment. Paul even asks in 1Cor 5:12 “Do you not judge those who are within the church?” fruit inspectors use judgment (Matt7:16-18). We are NOT allowed to judge nonbelievers, not our business they are lost as of yet. Read 1Cor5:3-13 for yourself and you judge, judge with a pure heart and motive of correction with love not vengeance. Judge without bias and partiality 1Tim5:19-21. So are we not to judge?
