Truth is in a judgment--we say of what is that it is and what is - TopicsExpress

Truth is in a judgment--we say of what is that it is and what is not that it is not Fr. James Schall, S.J. The insight that Truth is a person, while seemingly mystical, or intuitive is in itself a fruit of judgment. The forfeiture to make judgments will render thinking a futile exercise. We then would accept shadows for light, form for substance...and that changeless principle upheld by sheer common sense that a thing cannot be and not be at the same time, once thumbed down mean that what is reasonable could unreasonable. We wouldnt even know what sanity means. The Biblical injunction against making judgment, should be interpreted...yes through right judgment. It means not rash judgment. It means do not condemn the sinner; its the sin that should be condemned. Thinking is a kind of listening, and our minds figuratively has ears.
