Truth is, more and more people are coming to church to meet - TopicsExpress

Truth is, more and more people are coming to church to meet specific needs and they are coming with a set of standards as well as restrictions. The church in North America has become a shopping mall where people choose from the best programs and offerings from a variety of churches without ever committing to any one church. This is largely due to the consumerism, individualism, and comfort that dominates the North American society. It is becoming a place that is expected to serve my needs instead of a place to serve Jesus and those around us. Heres my take on this: Church shopping is largely unbiblical because it focuses on the person rather than Jesus. It will only give you a temporary satisfaction because churches are gatherings of imperfect people trying to worship a perfect God. If you see something that should be done in the church, then God has reveal a responsibility to you to do this. As Christians, we are called into community with other people around us to be the church. We are not called to play the church. We must remember that church is a place where we worship as a community and we do so with joy regardless of the difficulties that may stir in us. In conclusion, commit to a church for the sake of serving Jesus and those around you; not to attend a therapy session or an entertainment conference.
